Some answers to frequently asked questions
about the Chat Rooms:

How do I get into your new chat room?
1. First, register a profile name - it's FREE!
2. Then check your email inbox for the 'activation email' to make the profile 'live'.
3. Then you can log into your new profile and be able to click on the Chat link in the top right of the screen.

I click on the Chat link (which shows being are chatting) but nothing happens!
You are probably running a popup-blocker in your web browser. One simple way to see if this is the case, and work around it, is to click the RIGHT mouse button over the Chat link and choose from the menu that appears Open in a New Window or Open in  New Tab. If this lets you in, configure your popup blocker to allow pop-ups at birchplace.com domains.

I still cannot get into the new chat room!
The NEW room does NOT require Java, but it does require Adobe Flash (see top of this page).

Ok, did that but I still cannot get into the new chat room!
If you are running a Firewall, try turning it down from 'Maximum Security (which blocks all non-web traffic)' to something more sensible like 'Normal Security'. Firewalls need to allow access to port
19002, which is what the chat room uses.

Ok, did that too, but I still cannot get into the new chat room!
Maybe you are running a Google or Yahoo toolbar popup blocker? At least set them to allow access to birchplace.com
If so, try updating to the latest version of Google Toolbar or Yahoo Toolbar.

I am trying to use my BirchPlace Silver or Gold membership to login!
Those won't work - they are for the film, personals and galleries. Please create a profile.
Remember to then check your email inbox for the 'activation email' to make the profile 'live'.

I cannot get into anything using Internet Explorer
You can also make sure your security settings on Internet Explorer are not set ridiculously high - you only need to set it at Medium. In IE, use the Tools Menu, then choose Internet Options from the menu, and choose the Security tab, to see the screen below. The Medium setting is 'appropriate for most Internet Sites'.

You can also try with an alternative browser such as the excellent Firefox www.getfirefox.com
Then we can see if the problem lies with Internet Explorer and see how to solve your problem with that browser.

If you are still having problems, please Contact us! providing as much information as possible - we WILL help!
